Making a Vault Crystal

Vault Altar

The Vault Altar is your key to entering a vault. Once you place your Vault Altar in the world, you can right-click any type of vault rock onto it. The altar will then display the 4 ingredients it needs before you can craft your crystal. Once you have provided these items to it by dropping them next to the altar, you can give it a redstone signal (a button is commonly used), and your crystal will be crafted! Keep in mind that the ingredients and their quantities scale with vault level, so you will want to set up farms for these items later in the game.

Getting tired of throwing hundreds of items at your vault altar? Well we've got just the Research you need! Altar Automation allows the automatic transportation of items from your Refined Storage or Applied Energistics ME system directly to your Vault Altar!

Altar Requirements

Each Vault Crystal will require 4 different ingredients. Once all requrements are satisfied, the crystal can be crafted. Below are the possible requrements with their base values for each slot on the altar. Note that these values will be scaled based upon how many crystals you have crafted in each world

Vault Rock Types

The type of Vault Crystal you will craft depends on the rock used on the Vault Altar, below is each type of Vault Rock

Normal Rock

The normal Vault Rock is the most common type of rock, which has a chance of dropping from Vault Stone when mined. A Crystal crafted from this rock will have no modifiers by default, but can be modified using the Crystal Workbench.

Warden's Vault Rock

The Warden's Vault Rock creates a Warded Crystal, which comes with the Afterlife modifier, preventing item loss on death. This crystal is also unmodifiable.

Plunderer's Vault Rock

The Plunderer's Vault Rock creates a Plunderer's Crystal, making the vault not yield any experience, but increases the loot amount by 10% and vault ore generation by 25%. This crystal is also unmodifiable.

Glazed Vault Rock

The Glazed Vault Rock creates a Cake Crystal, which is unmodifiable and has the Eat The Cake objective.

Chaos Vault Rock

The Chaotic Vault Rock Creates a Chaos Crystal, which has 30 completely random modifiers (no more can be added) and the chaos theme, where each room or tunnel is from a different theme

Architect's Vault Rock

The Architect's Vault Rock creates a Divine Architecture Crystal, which is unmodifiable and allows you to build your Divine Paradox.

Paradox's Vault Rock

The Paradox's Vault Rock creates a Divine Paradox Crystal, which is unmodifiable and allows you to run your Divine Paradox.

Challenger's Vault Rock

The Challenger's Vault Rock creates a Challenger's Crystal, which adds Ascension.

Herald's Vault Rock

The Herald's Vault Rock creates a Vault Crystal that allows you to Fight the Herald, this vault is locked and players who die will not loose their items.
