Sophisticated Backpacks

Sophisticated Backpacks is the main mod for storing loot in the Vault. It comes with multiple tiers of backpacks that must be unlocked through research, which can have a variety of upgrades added for various effects.

Basic Upgrades

Advanced Pickup and Void Upgrades

Pickup Upgrade

1. Upgrade mode, can block or allow pickup of items in the filter, or match backpack contents and pick up only things that are already in the backpack or in the slot memory. An empty filter set to block will pickup any item, set to allow it pickup no items.
2. Filter mode: whether items entering the backpack are tested against the item, the mod the item in the filter is from, or a tag from the filter.
3. Durability matching: whether the durability of the item is considered.
4. NBT matching: whether the nbt of an item is considered.

Void Upgrade

1. GUI/Automation only. If set to works in GUI as well, items that are placed in the backpack by the player will be checked to see if they should be voided.
2. Void all/void overflow. If set to void overflow, items will only be deleted if there is a full stack (modified by stack upgrades) of items already in the backpack.
3. Upgrade mode, can block or allow voiding of items in the filter. An empty filter set to block will void any item, set to allow it void no items.
4. Filter mode: whether items entering the backpack are tested against the item, the mod the item in the filter is from, or a tag from the filter.
5. Durability matching: whether the durability of the item is considered.
6. NBT matching: whether the nbt of an item is considered.

Filter Upgrade

This upgrade controls which items can be removed or added to the backpack by automated item transportation, such as item pipes or hoppers.

Restock Upgrade

This upgrade lets the backpack pull items from other inventories like chests into itself. THIS UPGRADE DOES NOT WORK WITH VAULT CHESTS.

Deposit Upgrade

This upgrade lets the backpack push items from itself into other inventories like chests.

Backpack priority order

Items entering the player's inventory attempt to enter backpacks with Pickup Upgrades in the following order:

• The back curio slot
• The hotbar, from left to right
• The inventory, from left to right and top to bottom

1. Backpack Settings
   • Controls how the backpack GUI functions on closing and reopening
2. No Slot Sorting Settings
   • Allows slots to be designated to ignore the sort button
3. Slot Memory Settings
   • Set a slot to only accept a specific item into it.
4. Item Display Settings
   • Set a slot to be displayed when the pouch is set on the ground.

Advanced Use in Vaults

Backpacks can be set up in several useful ways to deal with Vault loot.

• A pouch can be set up with slot memory to hold all scavenger items, simplifying management.
• A pouch can be set up with an advanced pickup upgrade filtered to pickup all 9 pieces of vault gear (sword, axe, shield, wand, focus, helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots), a jewel, all 4 god charms, an inscription, and a trinket to create a backpack that picks up only unstackable loot.
• A pouch can be set up with an advanced pickup upgrade filtered to block pickup of the vault mod, or only allow pickup of the mods used for decoration in the Vault as well as a void upgrade set to void any overflow to create a junk pouch that will prevent trash items from reaching the player's inventory.

Use as a permanent storage

Backpacks can be placed on the ground by crouch-right clicking with the backpack in the player's hand. Once placed, an External Storage cable from Refined Storage or a Storage Bus from Applied Energistics II can be attached to the backpack to use it as an external storage the mod can use. By setting the slot memory and adding Stack Upgrades to the backpack, the backpack can be used to store massive amounts of items at a comparatively cheap cost to other storage mods.
